Core conditioning stimulates strength improvement and enhances flexibility in the muscles surrounding the spine and mid-section of the body. The AFSS Core-Conditioning program utilizes the following exercises to increase strength in the abdominal region, neck, and lower back, while improving flexibility in the hamstrings, adductors, shoulders, upper back, and lower back. This program will improve the strength and stability in the epicenter of the body, and may reduce the incidence of neck and low back pain. In addition, the Core-Conditioning program will improve the performance of daily and recreational activities, particularly golf and racquet sports, while reducing the risk of injury.
Core Spinal Fitness System® Equipment
1.) The Core Lumbar (Strength) uses the MedX® patented pelvic restraint system to isolate the paravertebral muscles of the lumbar spine, a common site of back pain. Without this effective pelvic restraint, several hip extensors are recruited, thus limiting the contribution of the desired paravertebral musculature. Isolation of the lumbar spine muscles increases stability and allows for specific, intensive strengthening in one of the body’s most vital and vulnerable areas. This machine design is based on the MedX® Medical Lumbar Extension, which is used in spinal rehabilitation facilities worldwide. |

2.) The Core Torso Rotation is revolutionary in its ability to isolate the muscles that rotate the upper body. The internal and external obliques, as well as the transverse abdominus are involved in nearly every bodily movement and are heavily recruited during many recreational activities including golf, swimming, and all racquet sports. The Core Torso Rotation increases strength and flexibility right at the core of the body and is a favorite among golf pros looking to increase club head speed and overall performance. |

3.) The Core 4-Way Neck (Strength) is a bio-mechanically precise machine that trains the flexion and extension muscles of the neck to allow for improved cervical function. By stretching and strengthening the cervical spine muscles, it improves range of motion, decompresses the upper spine, and increases the strength and stability of the entire neck. This machines design is based on the MedX® Medical Cervical Extension, which is used in spinal rehabilitation facilities worldwide.

4.) The Core Abdominal Isolator provides the highest degree of abdominal isolation available. Unlike other abdominal machines, the Core Ab Isolator neutralizes the hip flexor muscles and restricts arching the base of the spine. This design improves abdominal exercise effectiveness as it reduces the risk of lower back strain. Strong abs are vital to spinal support! |

5.) The Core Super Stretch follows the strength exercises and improves flexibility primarily in the shoulders, upper and lower back, groin (adductors), and hamstrings. Improving flexibility in these musculatures reduces back pain and risk of injury, as well as improves performance. The Super Stretch places the body into several bio-mechanically advantageous positions for effective stretching and facilitates spinal decompression. |

— New Addition —
The MedX® Medical Lumbar and Cervical Extensions are the finest Spine Strength Restoration machines ever designed. They are the only machines that can not only isolate and strengthen the muscles deep inside the torso surrounding the spine for highly accelerated rehabilitation, but they also eliminate the risk of harmful impact forces often experienced with traditional strengthening tools. In addition, they can objectively and safely test and measure muscular strength and flexibility, which are key factors in effective physical therapy analysis. (back to top)
